Dr Ian Harris is an orthopaedic specialist with a special interest in orthopaedic trauma and is the Head of Orthopaedic Trauma at Liverpool Hospital.
Orthopaedic trauma, apart from acute trauma also includes geriatric orthopaedics, and trauma complications such as non-union, mal-union and chronic osteomyelitis. He also is experienced in Ilizarov techniques of limb lengthening, deformity correction, and bone transport.
Dr Harris has several publications in the orthopaedic literature, and is involved in the education of orthopaedic trainees, residents, medical students and nurses.
Dr Ian Harris graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1985. After resident training at St George Hospital, he trained in the Sydney Orthopaedic Training Scheme.
He is now Head of Orthopaedic Trauma at Liverpool Public Hospital and has appointments at St George and Liverpool Hospitals, as well as several private hospitals.
He completed an AO fellowship in 1993 at the Klinkum rechts der Isar in Munich and a 12-month fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore, USA in July 1997.
Dr Harris is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the AO Alumni Association.
